Please help us help you.  The Churchville Volunteer Fire Department drills on a continuing basis to hone our skills.  Most training takes place on Monday nights from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Firefighters are mainly comprised of 2 groups interior and exterior.  Interior firefighters are certified to wear SCBA's (self contained breathing apparatus) this allows them to enter environments that the normal person would not survive in.

Interior firefighters have to attend a 12 week firefighter 1 course at the Monroe County Fire Academy on Scottsville road.  After completing this course interior firefighters are required to train every 3 months on the SCBA's, receive annual fit testing, and receive a physical examination by a doctor.

Exterior firefighters are not certified to wear SCBA's however fill a vital role by performing every duty that doesn't require an SCBA.  Both interior and exterior firefighters have to complete 8 hours of OSHA, Blood Boorne Pathogens, Hazrodous Material trainng per year.

The fire department also provides a water rescue team and requires firefighters to intially train once on ice and once in the water to become certified then train once annual to stay qualified.  The firefighters are also required to maintain their "points" in the "points system" by earning credit for calls and drill activities.  This ensures that the members are trained and the calls are covered.
